That download happens once and is then kept in your browser's own cache, so every removal after the first on that device takes only a few seconds. Tips for a Clean Cutout
- Pick a background that contrasts with the subject — a dark shirt against a dark wall gives the model far less to work with than a clear tonal difference.
- Light the subject evenly — a strong shadow right at the edge of the subject is often mistaken for part of the background, or left behind as a faint halo.
- Avoid a very busy or textured background — a plain wall gives a cleaner edge than a patterned curtain or a crowded room.
- Fine hair and wispy edges are the hardest case for any automatic cutout tool, this one included — a plain, well-lit background minimises the rough patches.
- Use a recent, reasonably sized photo — extremely large phone photos take longer to process and rarely add cutout accuracy beyond a normal resolution.

Why is the first run so slow?

The edges around the hair look rough.
Fine hair against a busy background is the hard case for every automatic tool. A plain, evenly lit wall behind the person gives a noticeably cleaner edge.
It does not work on my phone.
It needs a reasonably current browser and enough free memory. If the tab reloads itself partway through, the phone ran out of memory — try a smaller photo, or use a computer.

This usually happens when the original background was a similar colour to the edge of the subject, or the lighting left a soft shadow right at the boundary. Retaking the photo against a more contrasting, evenly lit background gives the model a cleaner edge to find.
