PMFBY Premium Calculator
Work out the crop insurance premium for your district, crop and area.
Sum insured = scale of finance x area. The farmer's share is a fixed percentage of that, capped by the scheme:
| Crop | Farmer's share |
|---|---|
| Kharif — food grains and oilseeds | 2% |
| Rabi — food grains and oilseeds | 1.5% |
| Annual commercial and horticultural | 5% |
How to use it
- Choose the season and the crop type.
- Enter the scale of finance for your crop and district — the notified per-hectare sum insured, published each season by the state agriculture department.
- Enter the area you are insuring, in hectares.
- The farmer's share appears immediately, alongside the total sum insured.
Questions about this tool
What is the farmer's share under PMFBY?
The scheme caps it: 2% of the sum insured for Kharif food and oilseed crops, 1.5% for Rabi food and oilseed crops, and 5% for annual commercial and horticultural crops. Governments pay the rest of the actuarial premium.
Where do I find the scale of finance?
It is notified before each season by the State Level Bankers Committee and the agriculture department, per crop and per district, and is displayed on pmfby.gov.in when you fill the application. Your bank branch or CSC operator will have the current sheet.
Is this the exact amount I will pay?
It is the scheme formula applied to the numbers you entered, so it is right if your scale of finance and area are right. The portal is the authority — treat this as a check on the figure it shows you, not a substitute for it.
What if my area is in acres?
Divide by 2.4711 to get hectares, or type the acres and switch the unit — the tool converts.
