Questions about this tool
How many files can it take?
Two or three hundred is the point of it. They are worked through one at a time, so the memory used stays roughly the same whether there are five files or five hundred.
Are they uploaded anywhere?
No. Every file is opened and rebuilt inside your own browser. Nothing leaves the computer, which is also why there is no file-count limit to buy.
One of my files failed. Did it stop everything?
No. A file that cannot be opened — usually a password-protected one — is marked as failed in the list and the rest carry on. You can download everything that did work.
Why is the ZIP split into parts?
A single archive of several hundred documents is slow to build and easy for a browser to run out of memory over. Parts of 50 download quickly and open normally.
Will the text still be selectable?
No. Each page is redrawn as a picture, which is what makes a scan shrink so much. For forms that only need reading and printing that is fine. If you need searchable text afterwards, run PDF OCR on the result.
Can I close the tab while it runs?
No — the work is happening in the tab. You can keep using other tabs and other programs.
