PDF Page Numbers
Stamp page numbers onto a PDF, with a choice of position and starting number.
How to use it
- Choose the PDF.
- Pick where the number goes and how it should read — a bare number, "Page 3", or "3 of 24".
- Set the page to start from if the first sheet is a cover that should stay blank.
- Press Add numbers and download.
Questions about this tool
Can I skip the cover page?
Yes. Set "Start numbering from page" to 2 and the first page is left alone. The number printed can still begin at 1 — set "First number" to 1.
Will it cover up the text underneath?
The number sits in the margin. If your document has no margin, move it to a different corner or reduce the font size.
Can I number a scanned PDF?
Yes. The number is drawn on top as real text, whatever is underneath.
Can I change the number's colour or make it bold?
Not right now — it always prints in a plain, legible dark grey. If you need a styled number, that has to be set up in the source document before you add numbering here.
What if the document already has page numbers printed on it?
This adds a fresh number on top of whatever is already there. Move the position to a different corner so the new number does not sit directly on the old one.
Does it handle a PDF with mixed page sizes?
Yes — the position and margin are worked out fresh for each page's own size, so a cover page in a different size to the rest of the document still gets the number placed correctly.
