Questions about this tool

Can it open a PDF whose password I do not know?

No. It removes a password you can already type — that is a convenience, not a break-in. There is no way around a password you do not have, and we would not build one.

Is this file uploaded?

Yes — this is the one tool on the site that cannot work in your browser, because PDF encryption needs a real implementation. The file travels over HTTPS, is processed in a private folder, and is deleted in the same request. Nothing is kept.

How strong is the password?

256-bit AES, which is the current PDF standard. The weak link is the password you choose, so make it long.

It says the password is wrong but I am sure it is right.

Some PDFs carry two passwords — a user password to open it and an owner password for permissions. Removing the encryption needs whichever one the file actually asks for when you open it.
