Questions about this tool
When is a residence self-declaration needed?
Usually alongside a domicile or residence certificate application, a school admission, a scheme application, or where an address proof is asked for and the utility bill is in somebody else's name.
Plain paper or stamp paper?
A self-declaration goes on plain paper. An affidavit — which is sworn — goes on stamp paper and is notarised. Ask the office which of the two they want; they are not interchangeable.
Can I write it in English?
Maharashtra offices generally accept Marathi, and many prefer it. If the office wants English, type the details in English and the layout stays the same.
Do I need a witness?
Most offices do not ask for a witness on a plain self-declaration — that requirement is more common on an affidavit. Check locally, since it varies by office.
Can I save my progress and finish it later?
